Chocolate Cake? — NS History Tidbit

Perhaps you’re a new member, or perhaps you’re a senior member of the NS Forums. Either way, not everyone remembers or knows the story about the chocolate cake, or how it came to life. If you’ve read older fanfictions on the forums, perhaps you’ve noticed some of them reference a certain chocolate cake? Here’s the story behind the infamous chocolate cake!

On February 6th 2003, LexLover (who’s still a member by the way!) asked the community the following question:

Could anyone tell me what the significance of the “chocolate cake” is. I can’t seem to find a referance in any off the episodes, but it is mentioned in a whopping number of chlex fan fics!

Warunee, the co-founder and former co-admin of NS replied shortly after the question was posed:

Oh my, this story goes way back in April (Here referenced to April 2002, Julie) or something. It’s a long story, but i’ll try and make it short.

At fanforum.com there’s a Chlex thread called ‘Truth Seekers’. At first the thread was really empty. Almost no one ever posted. So just for the fun of it, I told the lurkers they would get a cake if they came out. Suddenly the thread was filled with new posters, and I decided to post a picture of a big wedding cake. At that time, the regular Chlexers had a conversation about how fun it would be to see Lex seducing Chloe if he was infected by the Nicodemus flower.

Then Hope (still a member of NS Forums, hfce – Julie), one of the lurkers, (now a postaholic) said she promised to post more if she got chocolate cake instead. When I posted a picture of the chocolate cake, everyone went totally crazy (in a good way of course), and said how sexy it would be if Lex and Chloe seduced each other with chocolate frosting and all that stuff.

After that incident, chocolate cake has been some kind of ‘symbol’ representating Chlex.

I know, it’s crazy. Way beyond crazy. But it’s fun.

So there you have it, the story behind the chocolate cake! :)
