Interview: alexiel
1) If you could visit any place at any time period, where would you go and what would you do?
The 21th of July 1969 at 3AM, for the first step of a human being on the moon. Just to be there.
2) Have you ever met anyone famous?
A couple of French actors, with my theater class.
3) If you could meet any famous person, alive or dead, who would it be and what would you say/do?
I don’t know, maybe Terry Pratchett and I would probably ask him where I can find Esmeralda Weatherwax.
4) If you could switch lives with any person, who would you choose and why? If you want to switch with a person who is dead, we’ll assume that you wanted to live their life while he/she was alive.
No one. I like my life, it’s not perfect, but it’s mine.
5) Who is your favorite author, alive or dead, and why?
Terry Pratchett, because I love his little touch of madness and his capacity to make me laugh and cry in the same book.
6) What is your favorite book and why?
One of the Discworld. For the same reason I love Terry Pratchett. And because of Esmeralda Weatherwax.
7) Who is your favorite singer, alive or dead, and why?
Not a singer but a band, Metallica. Because it’s Metallica, lol !
What is your favorite song and why?
“Riders on the Storm” by the Doors. I couldn’t really say why, I just love all of it, the music, the lyrics, the atmosphere…
9) What is your favorite movie and why?
The Philadelphia Story by Georges Cukor. Because of Tracy Lord, the character played by Katherine Hepburn. And because I love Cary Grant too.
10) What is your favorite television show and why?
The Big Bang Theory. Because I’m such a nerd !
11) Who is your favorite actor/actress, alive or dead, and why?
Katherine Hepburn, she was a great actress and quite the woman.
12) What is the one movie/television show that you would never admit to family, friends, co-workers that you watch? Yes, I know asking defeats the point, but spill your guts anyway.
I’m not ashamed of watching bad TV shows or silly girl’s movies sometimes.
13) Do people in your Real Life know that you are a member of NS?
Just one.
14) Do people in your Real Life know that you make fanart?
The same as the previous question.
15) What program do you use to create your fanart?
Photoshop
16) When did you first start making fanart?
Five years ago. And I started with some sketches.
17) Is fanart just a hobby for you or do you hope to go further with your talents?
It’s a hobby, but it help me to learn new techniques that I can use in my work (I’m a graphic artist and web designer)
18) When you aren’t doing making awesome fanart, what do you do and/or want to be doing?
I’m writing fanfiction (unfortunately, in French only, I tried to translate a couple of them, the shortest, but it’s too much work, and I’m not good enough in English). I’m writing some personal stuff too, I’m drawing, painting and reading a lot.
19) How and why did you first get interested in Chlex? What do you like most about the characters? What do you hate about them?
I began by reading fics, a little by chance, on fanfic French website and I became quickly an addict (thanks LaLa for that). At first, I was more of a Lex fan, and I never could picture him with Lana, so Chlex was kind of logic. The two things I really hate was Lex’s obsession for Lana and Chloe’s admiration for Clark.
20) How and why did you first get interested in making Chlex fanart?
I draw a couple of sketch to illustrate my fics.
21) Is there anything while viewing Chlex fanart that you really like/hate?
Nothing in particular.
22) What (if any) other fandoms do you create fanart for and why?
I made LoVe fanart, when Veronica Mars was still on TV (in France). I also made fanart for some other shows (Farscape, Heroes, Buffy…), but nothing as regular as Chlex.
23) What type of environment do you need to create fanart? For example: extreme quiet, blaring music, subtle background noise, etc.
Nothing in particular. Just my computer, in my bedroom.
24) How do your ideas come to you? Do you always create them or do you let them disappear?
I note every idea (fanart and fanfic), but I have no time to do everything, I have a very productive brain ! Most of my idea came when I’m in bed, just before I fall asleep. I note the one I remember the following day.
25) Do you plan a project completely formed in your head or do you let inspiration come to you as you work with it?
I tried to plan my project, but I’m not good at it. More ideas come when I work on a project.
26) Is there any art that you won’t create or feel uncomfortable making?
In fanart, no. I just don’t like doing “sad stuff”, but it’s more for fic.
27) Are reviews vital to keep you making art or will you continue as long as you have ideas?
Reviews aren’t vital, but it’s nice anyway.
28) Have you ever had a review that made you think something about your art that you never thought of before? Has a review ever made you want to make a major change to your art?
I don’t think so. Maybe at the beginning, and more about fanfic than fanart.
29) Do you see Chloe and Lex or other Smallville characters in different television shows or movies? Meaning, do you watch a movie like Star Wars and start thinking that Lex is just like Han Solo? Perhaps use those ideas to make manips?
Sometimes, but I’m not really using it in fanart.
30) What do you think AM and MR would say about your art if they saw them? How would you feel if someone from the show looked at your art?
I really don’t know.
31) If you could have any super power, what would it be and why? Would you use it for good or evil?
Maybe flying. Only for good.
