Zealot has posted up a new analysis of the Lexmas episode from season five! Go read through it, and perhaps get another perspective on the episode! A preview can be found below:

We saw through the series that Lex idealized Clark. That deep inside he’s longing for that friendship with him. He saw the Kents as the perfect family one he would have liked to be part of. Lana is the typical perfect wife/*girlfriend material. They all have this image of purity and goodness and thus they fit into this dream.

But what’s Chloe’s place in Lex’s ideal’s vision? Unlike Clark, Lana and the Kents, Lex never voiced seeing Chloe as pure, good and perfect. Yet she’s present in this dream. Yet, he’s yielding something from her. The same thing as the other people he looks up to: Her approval, her friendship… and affection (the hug) and her gratitude.
