NS has been up and running again for a couple of days now, looks like things are OK.
There are still some features/elements missing, but I’m working on those ASAP 
The board is functioning, but things like media files and such might be temporarily missing.
I just want to say thank you to everyone for supporting NS and being very patient when things like this happen. Sadly they happen once in a while, but usually we’re back up pretty quickly
Seems like it was more messy than what I had hoped for. The infected files are all over the place, so I simply have to re-install the forums, which is going to take a little while.
I’m taking backups of the database now, and waiting for my hosting company to confirm a backup as well, and then I will try my best to fix the forums as soon as possible.
Again, so terribly sorry about the downtime and mess!
I had to take down NS the other day due to some malicious files being discovered on the forums. I couldn’t find the infected files with a quick online virus scan, so I took NS down for safety measures.
I know NS has been down a while, but I simply haven’t had the time to take care of it properly (worst case scenario it can take several hours to get everything up and running 
). Sadly our backups were updated the same day I found out NS had been infected, so fixing NS is going to take a little more time
If you’ve been on NS since this past Sunday (January 1st 2012), and before it was taken down by me, please run a full complete virus scan of your computer(s). You MAY have (a) malicious file(s) in your internet cache directory! When I got infected, I found two malicious files in my cache folder. And while on that topic, you should run frequent virus scans. If you don’t have a anti-virus program, I recommend checking out AVG Free, since it’s free and decent, and can alert you quickly if you have malicious files on your computer, or if you visit a website that has been infected with a virus.

Sad to say, I don’t have an Advent Calendar fanfiction chapter for you The person who’s been writing the story hasn’t gotten back to me yet, but hopefully she’s OK and it’s just that real life has gotten in the way
So, no Advent Calendar just yet this year I’m afraid Sorry guys!
When and if I get some chapters I’ll post them up ASAP!

NS had it’s 9th anniversary in July, so we made August and September our celebration months with give-aways and fun! That period is now finished, and I thank everyone who participated and everyone who is an active member of NS!
I opened the forums for guests to view during our celebration months (August and September), and now I am extending that period to January 1st 2012!
Since I extended the period the forums are opened for guests, I thought I would also allow guests to post replies in the fanfiction forums*. I will run this trial period through October, and if it goes well (meaning no spam/manageable spam), I might extend that period as well to January 1st 2012, to match our open forums for guests period. * Not the fanfiction graveyard forums.
October brings on the creepy factor so for this challenge, you must begin with the cliche line “It was a dark and stormy night…” What happens to Chloe and Lex on this dark and stormy night depends on you. Do they get caught in the rain on a long and winding road? Do they stay inside and learn each other’s deep dark secrets? Does a slasher villain terrorize the seemingly idyllic town of Smallville? In October, I’m allowing guests to comment on fanfictions in the fanfiction forums* (as a trial). If it doesn’t get spammed down, I might extend that period to January 1st 2012, since our forums are open for guests until January 1st 2012.
So let your non NS member friends know that they can, for a limited period, read and comment on fanfictions posted here on NS!
All posts made by guests will have to go through moderation, so it might take a 1 or 2 before they appear. This is not to sensor the content, just to make sure that spam doesn’t go through. And since I’ll be doing the moderation, I might not catch the posts right away due to different time zones and work!
What do you think? Good or bad idea? Let me know!
